5 Tips to Make Hybrid Working Work for You

Hybrid Working

The world of business has been forever changed by Covid-19. Not only has it forced business owners to consider a more flexible work arrangement for their employees, but new safety precautions have been brought into the office to ensure that workers are kept safe whether they are off-site or on-site. If you have been placed on a hybrid work schedule, here are some tips to help you cope with this new work environment.

1. Separate your spaces

One of the most important things to do when you are working from home because of COVID is to separate your business life from your home life. It can become a little claustrophobic if you start merging the spaces together. In fact, you may find that you start to overwork or find it difficult to switch off. That’s why you need to create an area for you to work in without distractions. This could be your study or just in a cosy area of your living room. Make your work environment suit you.

2. Wear comfortable clothes

It’s important that you feel good about your work environment. Therefore, you shouldn’t have to worry about getting dressed up if you are just going to work from home. Granted, you should make yourself look presentable if you are going to be in a meeting or on video call, however if you are just going to be on your own throughout the day, don’t feel worried about wearing your PJ trousers or something a little more comfortable. That way you can feel warm and settled in your house. However, if you think wearing your work attire will inspire you to work harder, feel free to wear something more formal. The happier you feel in your clothes, the easier it will be to work at home.

3. Set break and lunch hours

You may be tempted to try and be flexible when it comes to your work routine. In other words, you may take breaks at random intervals or have your lunch, later on, to make sure you can get more work done. Avoid doing this and try to keep to a regular schedule. This will help you retain control over your work, especially if you stick to a timetable.

4. Keep in contact

Whether you decide to use WhatsApp, work-approved social media, or just through the occasional phone call or email, make sure to keep in contact with your manager and fellow employees. Your mental health is important and reaching out to people in the same business as you will keep you all on track and grounded. Don’t isolate yourself!

5. Treat yourself

Even if you are working from home, that does not mean that you have to be constantly inside your house. Make sure to reward yourself for working hard with nice meals, snacks, or walks around your neighborhood. You can even indulge in an audiobook or quick workout to keep you refreshed and relaxed. Choose your rewards so you can work hard and play hard.

And there you have it – 5 tips to help you figure out how to make hybrid working work in your daily routine.
