Only in rare cases the Cave Raiders can return from the mysterious depths of the Abyss. Riko’s mother is one of the survivors and has earned the title of White Washer for her legendary expedition inside the Abyss. Unfortunately, she has also disappeared into the Abyss.

Therefore, Riko also aspires to be a White Whistle someday, following the path of her mother. She met a Human-like Robot named Reg. Riko and her friend, along with Reg, start their quest inside the Abyss. A floating balloon on the surface of the Abyss carried with itself the news about her mother. It read that she would find her mother in the depths of the Abyss.

When will Made in Abyss Season 2 Air in 2022?

So far, there is no particular release date announced for the airing of Made in Abyss Season 2. But sources have claimed that the new series will be set on your screens in early 2022. The new season will be named Made in Abyss: The Sun Blazes upon the Golden city. However, according to other sources, the series could be titled, Made in Abyss: The Golden Town of Relentless Day.

Is there enough source material available for another season of MIA, or will it be a movie adaptation?

One of the most crucial factors for another season is the abundance of manga, which is the prime source material for anime. We have to speculate in what form the next sequel will be released by Kinema Citrus production house, arguably if it will be a movie adaptation again.

The manga writer Akihito Tsukushi is still working on new chapters and releases them every month. The last one is the 8th chapter, released in 2021.

Moreover, around 61 volumes of the manga are available so far, with two sub-chapters each from chapters 42 and 46. Only chapters 1, 2, 6, 7, 18, and 23 are entirely left to be adapted in its next season. However, the sequel of the anime parts could include unused details from the rest of the manga.

The story might carry on up to several other layers of the Abyss that Reco and Reg have to descend to find her mother finally. And while Riko goes deeper into the Abyss, at least till the sixth layer becomes a white whistle. However, little did she knows about the scary mysteries and truth of the Abyss beyond the Sixth layer.

The story might also take a turn and centre around Riko’s expedition in the village of Narehate or the Three Sages. The ancient people of the forgotten past world have created these villages constituting humans who have faced the curse of the Abyss. These creatures are stuck in the Abyss forever into a never returning phase.

Or it may so happen that no curse exists at all in Narehate village, and Riko finds new shreds of evidence about her lost mother. Also, in season 2, there will be a unique variety of characters and creatures in the Narehatte village.

Will there be more sequels after Made in Abyss season 2?

Akihito Tsukushi is still writing Manga volumes, with its last season released in July last year. And upcoming manga volumes are still on the run. Thus there is a very big possibility that we will get to see more of the Abyss history.

Also, Kinema Studio might launch another movie as a sequel to Made in Abyss season 2. But it is quite certain that the story won’t conclude its end with only two seasons and a movie.
